Register at the door for a morning of outdoor winter fun. $10-ages 16 & up: $5-ages 15 & under. Cash prizes.

Owl ProwlFebruary 27—Sat.—Full Moon Hike / Owl Prowl / Night Ski

Open skiing 4:00pm-6:00pm - at Brushy - north campground

Full Moon Hike 6:00pm-7:00pm - at Dolliver Park south lodge area
Walk in the dark and listen for the sounds of the night. Cross country ski or snowshoe afterwards from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm.

February 28—Sun.—Afternoon with the Whitetail
Whitetail Rack Measuring & Rooster Tail Measuring

1:00-3:00 pm  at ICCC — Career Ed. Bldg.
Sports Show admission is $5; measuring is free.   Bring your racks and pheasant rooster tails to be measured.

March

Pre-registration required. Bring a hammer. Call for list of choices and costs.

March 20—Sat.—Maple Syrup Festival Maple Syrup Festival

1:00 pm  at Kennedy Park shelter
Enjoy the sweet, simmering smell and taste of homemade maple syrup.  Bring the family for hands-on fun with an old-fashioned theme. 

April

April 17—Sat.—Earth Day Celebration

10:00 am  Ditch Clean-up

     Meet at Brushy Creek Prairie Resource Center
         ** Wear old clothes and work gloves.

1:00-4:00 pm  C.I.T.O. (Cache In Trash Out)
Find "treasures" hidden in nature using GPS units and take out the trash as you go. Some GPS units will be available to use.

4:00-6:00 pm  Great Garlic Mustard Pull
Be a part of a very important invasive species removal project to save our native habitat.

7:00 pm Night Prairie Burn
The DNR staff will light up the night sky with the flames of a controlled prairie burn.

May 4—Tue. Wildflower Hike

Meet the naturalist at playground bridge for an interpretive hike through the Des Moines River valley. Enjoy spring!!

May 13—Thurs. Plant Some Shade

Time TBD  at Kennedy Park
Pick up day for pre-ordered trees for Mid-American Energy customers. See www.midamericanenergy.com. Click Energy Efficiency, then type in Plant Some Shade.

May 22—Sat. Fishing Derby at Brushy

10:00am-noon  at Brushy Creek fish pier
For beginners with a parent. Meet at fish pier point. Equipment, bait, and lunch provided.

June

June 5 & 6—Sat. & Sun. Archery Shoot

8:00am-3:00pm  at Kennedy Park
Join the webster Co. Bowhunters & Archery Assoc. for a weekend of 3-D marksmanship on the Badger Lake Trail.
$10 / shooter.

June 12—Sat. Women in the Outdoors

8:00am-4:30pm at Brushy Creek
For women wanting to learn outdoor skills. Fee covers meals, drinks, & supplies. Cost is $30.

June 17-Thurs. Canoe School

6:00-9:00pm
Join certified instructor, Clark Fletcher, in a course on canoeing basics. Bring a water bottle.

June 20—Sun. Paddle with Papa

10:00am  route to be determined
Call for reservations. Make a Father's Day memory with dad, grandpa, big brother as we paddle Iowa's waters.Bring a drink and lunch.

July

July 3-Sat.   Prairie Hike

9:00am at Brushy Creek, Root Cellar Prairie
Join prairie biologist, Bill Johnson, and learn a bit of history and plants of the prairie.

July 16 & 17-Sat. & Sun.   Christmas in July

at Kennedy Park campground
Campers will be decorating their sites for Christmas.

"Awaken the Dragon" with Daybreak Rotary at the annual Dragon Boat Bash. Schedule TBA.

August

August 14-Sat.   Carp Fishing Tournament

8:00am-Noon at Badger Lake, Kennedy Park
Help improve the fishing quality of Badger Lake. Only carp will be weighed for cash prizes and door prizes.

August 21 & 22-Sat. & Sun.   3-D Archery Shoot

8:00am-3:00pm at Kennedy park

Paddle the river with other outdoor enthusiats and stewards of the land as we pull trash from the river.

Join a friendly "eco-challenge" as participants bike to Kennedy Park, run and kayak around Badger Lake.

Take a hike on a flat hard-surfaced trail stopping along the way to see and skit and learn something about nature. Family oriented, entertaining, and educational-but NOT scary.

November

November 6-Sat.   Skillet Creek Night Hike

6:00pm at Skillet Creek Indian Mounds
The wonders of an ancient burial site and the excitement of walking in the dark make for an interesting evening.

November 7-Sun.   Friends Banquet

5:00pm at Kennedy Park's Heun shelter
Enjoy the friendship and similar concerns for the environment at the annual banquet for the Friends of Webster County Conservation.

November 13-Sat.   Night Hike / Owl Prowl

7:00pm at Dolliver Park, south lodge
Explore the darkness and listen for owls.

December

December 11-Sat.   Winter Festival

5:00-8:00 pm at Kennedy Park's Heun shelter
Ski, snowshoe, ice skate, sculpt snow "animals", sled, ride a hayrack to the light displays in the campground and play other snow games. This is geared for all ages and lots of family fun.

December 11-19   Lights at Kennedy

Drive thru the Kennedy Park campground and enjoy Sertoma-sponsored lighting displays.
