Enjoy the sweet, simmering smell and taste of homemade maple syrup. Bring the family for hands-on fun with an old-fashioned theme.
29—Sat.—Birdwatching at Brushy
7:00 am at the fishing pier at Brushy Creek
Join fellow birders for a chance to see different birds passing through during migration. Bring binoculars and a scope if you have one.
10:00 am at Skillet Creek Indian Mounds
Identify woodland wildflowers and learn about plants used by natives and pioneers. Witness the wealth of history in the Hard Scrabble area and see relics of our past.
Geo-cache & Prairie Rescue
1:00 pm at Bob Hay Mem. Conservation Area
Join others in a fun afternoon of geo-caching for hidden treasures (with a GPS unit we’ll provide). To rescue the prairie, we’ll use loppers to cut small saplings to improve the native hillside prairies. Bring the family for some outdoor fun and stewardship work. Wear old clothes and work gloves.
Ditch Clean-up & Picnic
4:00 pm meet at Kennedy Park Reception Center Join the Friends of Webster County Conservation for a garbage pick-up, followed by a spring picnic. Become of member of this conservation group.
Night Prairie Burn
6:00 pm meet at Kennedy Park Reception Center
A night burn will culminate the stewardship efforts of the afternoon. The WCCB staff will give a lesson on prairie management and light up the night sky with the flames of a controlled prairie burn.
19—Sat.—Cache-In Trash-Out
9:00 am--4:00 pm at Brushy Creek SRA—

Learn how to geo-cache (find a prize hidden in nature using GPS units) and take out the trash as you go. Wear old clothes & work gloves. Bring a GPS unit or—some will be available on loan from us; Potluck will follow at 5:00 pm. For equestrians (if it’s not too muddy) and hikers. Good family fun for all ages.
Family Fishing Derby
1:00-4:00 pm at Badger Lake, Kennedy Park
Enjoy a day of fishing fun with the family and a chance to win prizes sponsored by Hy-Vee.
30—”Dam to Dam” River Clean-up

Paddle a canoe or bring your own motor boat for an opportunity to make a huge impact on our river and the city of Fort Dodge. The focus will be between the Big & Little Dam in Fort Dodge.

Relax with an evening bike ride or hike as we celebrate the progress of the trail systems in our area. Bring the family or friends and your bikes for an invigorating evening with special memories.

Water Trails Dedication
River Clean-up
Learn about the new water trails system along the Des Moines River during a dedication ceremony. Paddle the river with other outdoor enthusiasts and stewards of the land as we pull trash from the river as we float along.
