Program Information: WIC is the nation’s public health nutrition program designed to strengthen families by influencing lifetime nutrition and healthy behaviors in a specific high-risk population. WIC’s combination of nutrition education, nutritious foods, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare provides a link to good health in over 190 clinics administered by 20 local agencies in the state of Iowa.
Two licensed dietitians are available at all WIC Clinics.
In Webster County there are seven WIC Clinics per month: one in Dayton (every other month) at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the remaining in Fort Dodge at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in the Latham Clinic.
WIC enables parents to properly feed their children during the critical early years of growth and development therefore assuring normal growth, reducing levels of anemia, increasing immunization rates, improving access to regular health care and improving diets.
The WIC program serves children from birth – 5 years old, pregnant women and women who have given birth in the last 6 months.
Call the Webster County Health Department to see if you qualify.
